Job Purpose
The Deputy Director of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce supports the Executive Director in the day-to-day management and development of the organization (AACC) and the implementation of the Strategic Plan. The position will improve the visibility of the American Arab Chamber in the region by attending and supporting various internal and external events and functions. This role also provides leadership in membership service and development, management of staff and evaluation of organizational performance. The Deputy Director will provide input on operations and efficiencies and be a part of the implementation to streamline workflow. The Deputy Director reports directly to the Executive Director of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce.
 
Essential Job Functions
  • Work with the Executive Director and team on business development and growth of the membership and sponsor base.
  • Attend and represent the American Arab Chamber of Commerce at events, committees, forums and meetings of significance to establish an active Chamber presence in southeast Michigan and the greater business communities.
  • Implement and manage workflow strategies within the American Arab Chamber of Commerce to create efficient and effective management of the Chamber office; make recommendations for change as needed.
  • Assist with American Arab Chamber event management and event planning.
  • Manage special projects.
  • Attend and report to the various American Arab Chamber Boards and Committees as needed.
  • Prepare and monitor reports as needed.
  • Manages the organizations sponsor database and ensure all commitments are met and achieved.
  • Designs and implements effective measurement tools and oversees the collection of data to assess processes and progress towards achieving the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Ensures effective communication between the Chamber its members, the Public, Chamber Staff and Committees.
  • Manage volunteers and interns as needed.
  • Work on implementing programming and initiatives as needed.
  • Engages community leaders and elected officials on behalf of chamber issues.
  • Remains current on all public and business issues within the community and ensures Chamber involvement in decision making processes that impact the Chamber’s constituency.
 
Qualifications/Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Management or similar field.
  • Experience designing and implementing initiatives maximizing efficiencies with measurement of progress.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Membership or non-profit organizational experience beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a calm, professional and polished demeanor with a diverse range of clients (corporate and social), as well as internal staff.
  • Creative and solution-driven with the ability to identify and analyze needs and apply resources effectively to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a consultative and collaborative approach to coaching the organization’s leaders, committee members, and members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to business/economic development and the Chamber's on-going mission.
